If God asks “Where are you?”, what do you answer?
This was how our night was opened at the Upper Room Worship Manila‘s big event entitled, “Here: Worship as Warfare.” To be honest, I didn’t know what to say if it was asked directly to me. Sure, I’m a Christian, but there are times it gets tough that I don’t feel like being used by God – or basically I wanted to be “absent” just for that day. Probably because I was too lazy or I felt like I didn’t deserve it (anyone can relate?).
To give a brief background, the group is a community of believers that seeks to pursue the heart of God through worship. Composed of worship leaders and musicians from different churches, they encourage everyone to come as you are and be intimate with God’s presence. They meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the event, and now organized a big event held last August 12 at the Power Mac Center in Circuit Makati, attended by almost 300 people.
Every Nation Pastor Joseph Bonifacio shared the Genesis story of Adam and Eve when God was walking through the gardens and asked that famous question. We all know how that turned out – both hid because they were afraid and ashamed. But this wasn’t a question of location. It was an invitation – one that involves us surrendering and coming back to His presence.
God knew exactly where they were, and he definitely knows where we are right now in our lives. As much as we want to answer “Here I am Lord,” it’s just too difficult with the broken nature that we have. That’s why He never expects us to answer but instead wants us to be fully available, fully transparent, and fully present to Him.
Through Jesus Christ who wiped away our sins and perfected the sacrifice in the cross, I can assure you that you can come back to Him anytime.
**aaahhh** Don’t you feel relieved and thankful? I sure am 🙂
Now, sharing with you all some photos I took of the event as an attendee. You can also find the list of songs they sang here or even search their playlist on Spotify.
